DESCRIPTION:  \nOn Friday\, December 7 from 5pm to 7pm at Cafe CODA the Betsy Ezell Quintet will be celebrating music from the Feminine Blue writing and recording project funded in part by the Greater Madison Jazz Consortium. The original jazz compositions are focused on women’s perspectives and experience\, particularly in light of cultural narratives over the last two years. The original music is thought-provoking and hopeful with a whole lot of groove. The first set will feature straight-ahead standards and some innovative arrangements of holiday tunes and the second set will celebrate songs from Feminine Blue. Betsy was nominated for best Local Band or Singer in the jazz category in Madison Magazine’s Best of Madison 2019 poll. \nThe Betsy Ezell Quintet features Betsy Ezell on vocals\, Becca May Grant on keys\, Richard Hildner on guitar\, Laurie Lang on bass and Jim Huwe on drums. \nThis is a FREE event.
