Betsy Ezell Quartet

Wondering about the Betsy Ezell Quartet? Let me tell you more…

The name “Betsy Ezell Quartet” is deceiving and decidedly lazy. What do you call a jazz group that you are pulling together and has four people in it? Of course, your name + the word quartet…

It’s how Dave Brubeck did it…

It’s a quintet if you’re MIles Davis…

And a trio if you’re Oscar Peterson…

Really, our name does no justice to the fact that my bandmates are far superior musicians and performers than I! Keys player, Becca May Grant and her group Rivers of Madison just released an amazing recording of a live show they performed in November 2015. You need to hear it.

Matt Rodgers‘ contribution to the music scene in Madison is prolific! Name the genre and he basses it–and maybe even sings back up vocals too. For example, Mark Croft and The Dang-Its, to name two. Seriously, he plays everywhere…and he’s really, really good.

John Pollard drums with the Mike Cammilleri Organ Trio and with a all sorts of other jazz and acoustic groups. Being a humble guy, he doesn’t hot dog very often back there on the set, but he should!

I hope you can make it to our next show. Or, better yet, contact us if you need a jazz group for your wedding, corporate event, outdoor festival, or house stage.
